February 5, 2012 (x2 meetings)
Present: Trish, Kate, Christine, Adri, Annie, Kaye, Sana, Glenn
Discussion:
- Time: very difficult to get planner obligations completed when there are so many other things to do. Planner ends up being down on the list of priorities when there are so many other things taking up time. Taking care of classes takes no. 1 priority, but many other things getting in the way of team being able to keep up with PYP requirements
- Challenges with regards to planning collaboratively
- Imagination concert: fantastic idea and Action component of unit but not sure how to proceed
- Meeting/PD time not effective use of teacher time: Tuesday time could be organized much better - ensuring that teams have time to plan collaboratively should be a priority, not an add on
- Ways that team can organize themselves to plan collaboratively without being assigned the time (as discussed at last Tuesday's meeting)
- Possible ways that team can delegate (from within) a teacher to take on responsibility of maintinaing planner, and ensuring that everyone remains on the same page (at least fromt he outset)
- Next unit: hasn't been done before so should give team a good opportunity to pre-plan, follow through with proposed action action and plan collaboratively
- Try not to bite off more than we can chew: possibly a symptom of teachers (essentially) planning in isloation
- Many/most activities related only to the first line of inquiry and in that were very thematic, as opposed to really focusing in on the lines of inquiry or the central idea
