Present: Patrick, Riaan, Colette, Nashreen, Evan, Glenn
Discussion:
- Review of where HTWW planner is at: added activities for LP and attitudes
- Quick look at STP planner
- Exhibition pre-planning: decided that we would look at it through a cultural lense, as opposed to that of a particular form or style of art. that way it will open it up so that students will be able to explore multiple forms, so long as they are directly related to their culture of choice.
- Start with Emirati art: scaffold unit with an exploration of this before letting groups decide which cultures artistic expression they will inquire into for their group work. Once explored, groups will not be able to choose Emirati art.
- Chose ELA standards and added the to the HTWW planner
- Possible challenges with personal project: getting mentors for GS

Present: Riaan, Patrick, Glenn
Discussion:
- PD schedule: PYP related PD sessions coming up
- Planners for STP and HWEO
- Exhibiton: need to ensure that focus is both on artistic expression and it's connection to culture. Perhaps start by unpacking one good example, take students through exploration process having them produce work (and report back) related to that culture's art, and then open it up to forms/cultures that the groups will be interested in. Possibly use Emirati arts/expression as the model. Groups will not be able to explore the art modelled during the beginning stages as their choice for the rest of the unit.
- Assessment tools for HTWW: done well..

Action:
- Contact Valerie and Amna re. PD schedule - CC G5 teachers in (Glenn)
- Contact AA regarding timeline for new programs to be installed at BS/GS buildings (Glenn)

- Exhibition - organization: discussed the role of the mentor and possibilities with regards to the organization of them. GS and BS can organize groups according to how it suits them (combination of student and teacher choice).
- Parent ed. session to be held Feb 5, time to be decided by survey

Action:
- Send exhibition info (mentors etc) with follow up email (Glenn)

Present: Patrick, Riaan (Apologies: Glenn - cover class)
Discussion:
- Next steps for further development of the HTWW planner will be to: work out which assessment tasks need tools need to be developed, and who will develop them (and by when); how the chosen LP attributes will be developed throughout the unit; and to complete the population of the inquiry cycle. I also think you would do well to look closely at the descriptor for the summative assessment task and ensure that it accurately describes what you are intending for the students to do.

Action:
- Have a happy and restful winter break!

Next meeting:
- Review progress

December 10, 2012
Present: Riaan, Patrick, Colette, Evan, Nashreen, Glenn
Discussion:
- NWEA logins for G5 teachers
- Mentors for Exhibition 2013: boys' school being the potential challenge due to numbers. Glenn will create an exhibition info letter to parents that will be distributed the week of Jan 13. In addition to information on the importance of the exhibition, it will contain a survey that will ask parents the best time(s) to hold a parent ed. session. From there the team will decide when, and hopefully we'll be able to get some mentors from good prospective parents
- Started a chart that outlined 15 potential mentors for G5 groups
- Worked on reflection section of WWAPT planner: all but section 8 is now complete.

Action:
- Send NWEA logins to G5 team (Glenn)
- Complete section 8 of reflection for WWAPT (G5 team)
- Continue to populated inquiry cycle and generate any assessment tools that are needed for proposed tasks for HTWW (G5 team)

Next Meeting:
- Continue to develop HTWW planner

December 6, 2012
Present: Patrick, Riaan, Glenn
Discussion:
- Mentors for exhibition: with 21 groups from the BS and 10+ from the girls we will need to get creative (and receive a lot of support) to have a mentor for each group. Possible ideas to make this work include: administrators from each building; every possible candidtate from each building (including teachers, nurses, PCOs, Niraj (?); Counselors, Dr Lynn, Ms Mary etc..). We also need to look at the possibility of keeping groups back late for 1 hour each Tuesday and having a bus of PS/KG teachers to come across and work with the groups.
- Development of assessment tasks for HTWW: deveeloped descriptors for each aligned task
- Population of the inquitry cycle: used classroom connections (and proposed activitieds from last years planner) to develop strategies for the first few stages of the inquiry cycle
- MAP scores/DesCarte: have the MAP scores been published/ communicated to teams? G5 would like to look at Descarte as part of their Data Teams planning
- Unit-related NFTs at Manasir building
- Assessment tools from last year copied across to Assessment tools folder

Action:
- Send unit-related NFTs (from Manasir) to Patrick for distribution (Glenn)
- Ask John about MAP/Descarte and report back to G5s (Glenn)

Next Meeting:
- Reflection sections of WWAPT
- Development of assessment tools: do we have them all? What needs to be generated and by who?

November 26, 2012
Present: Riaan, Patrick, Nashreen, Colette, Evan, Glenn
Discussion:
- Exhibition unit: decided to stick with HWEO
- Development of CI and LOI (for exhibition): teachers will work out a way to creatively involve the students in their development. That or just give them the CI and have them come up with LOI, similarly to what we did last year. *Note that this will be tricky as we are dealing with a somewhat 'fluffier' topic.
- Reviewed progress with WWAPT planner, updated with a couple of new activities
- Decided to extend current unit for one week, not 2
- Developed assessment tasks for science outcomes for HTWW
- Added 2 ELA (writing) outcomes

Action:
- Develop rubric for WWAPT summative task (Colette and Nashreen)
- Develop rubrics for HTWW (Riaan)
- Speak with Chris and Valerie regarding SIP session and possibility of joining PS field trip to Samaliyah island (Glenn)

Next Meeting:
- Finalize assessment tasks for HTWW
- Start to populate inquiry cycle for HTWW
- Decide on how/when reflection section of WWAPT will be done

November 22, 2012
Present: Patrick, Riaan, Glenn
Discussion:
- Moved the end week for WWAPT one week back (until second last week before break)
- WWAPT planner looks really good: added a couple of activities for the LP and one into going further
- Worked a little on getting the HTWW planner ready
- Opened up the discussion on whether the HWEO unit is really the right choice. Many things to consider including how tangible it will be for students to develop solid central ideas and lines of inquiry in an arts-based unit, as opposed to a science-based one. Team needs to discuss and decide (on or before next Monday’s meeting). Possible way to do this might be to draw up a list of pros and cons for each unit..

Action:
- Record ideas with regards to pros and cons of HTWW vs. HWEO for the exhibition unit (G5 team)
- Prepare both HTWW and HWEO unit planners (Glenn)

Next Meeting:
- Decide exhibition unit and develop assessment tasks for unit #3
