- Music and dance to be integrated throughout: tie in with concert performance
- Pre-assessment idea: using feelings as a springboard to explore different colors, objects, places, people, pictures
- Ways to assess: link COR criteria to specific activities so that teachers know what to look for (integrating COR and unit assessment)
- Need for a timeline/overview (beyond section 4)

- What unit to do next: decided on Art Attack
- Central Idea: We express ourselves through art in many ways v. We use different art forms to express our emotions
- Focus of lines of inquiry
- Focus of unit, how it could be broken up: by mediums (pencil, paint, collage etc..)
- What defines 'Art'? Should poetry and music be included: definitely music as Trish could then integrate authentically
- Feb Learning environment and inquiry workshop: Rasha to go instead of Angela

Action:
- Come up with ideas that are related to the Central Idea/Lines of Inquiry (PreK team)
- Write a unit info. letter to parents requesting volunteers for presentations (PreK team)

- Review central idea: modified to include 'community' instead of the more abstract 'world'
- Decide on what professions to focus on for the neighbourhood: Policeman, Firefighter, Doctor, Dentist, Builder
- Timeframe: 10 weeks total: 2 weeks tuning in; 2 weeks school; 2 weeks neighborhood; 2 weeks home; 2 weeks wrapping up
- Summative assessment tasks for unit: one summative for each of the 3 areas

- Decide on which community helpers we'll focus on: three communities (home, school and outside world)
- Tuning in activities: deliberated on challenges associated with unpoacking of CI: communities too difficult
- New PK unit: didn't get to it..

Due to reporting commitments, the team was unable to complete the action tasks set out in last week's meeting so the meeting was postponed until later in the week

October 24, 2011
Discussion:
- Establishment of guidelines for effective meetings: Glenn to provide agenda guideline with meeting invitation and meeting follow up with link to overview (wiki page), teachers to read through unit planner (or recommended resource/text) before meeting, questions/discussion to be kept on-topic (as much as possible), bring stuff to write on, one teasm member to tsake notes throughout meeting on what needs to be done and who will do it
- Unit progress: students have taken time to settle but (most?) team members have started on activities
- Overview of key elements of unit planner: central idea, lines of inquiry, formative and summative assessment task(s), stage 4 activities

Action:
- Generate more activities/possible assessment tasks in the context of the lines of inquiry (Pre K teachers)
- Create unit classroom displays (Classroom teachers- with the help of Coordinators)
